IN A WORD

As a year comes to an end, we set new goals, dare to dream and await new experiences in the coming year. In December 2003, I did just that. A big idea, a love of the sport and a modest beginning at 46th Street evolved into what is now SBR Multisports.

We began as Ultimate Tri, located on the 3rd floor of 155 West 46th Street. Despite the obscure location (to get inside customers had to buzz in, go up the elevator and then use the secret knock:) to get in), we developed an enthusiastic following. Word of mouth spread quickly and we watched the business outgrow the location.

The move to 58th Street early this year was challenging, but also exciting. My goal was to create a home for triathletes, regardless of experience, ability or age. Triathlon has done so much for me and I wanted to reach out to people and share my passion for the sport. I wanted to create an environment that provides athletes a place to come together, a place that fosters growth of the sport.

In 2004, I started laying the foundation for SBR Multisports, but never did I expect all that 2005 would bring. Eleven months after opening Ultimate Tri at 46th Street, we reopened in a prime new location and under a new name. We designed an environmentally conscious workspace where 80% of the store is made of post-consumer materials. We took contemporary art to the masses by using a retail space to redefine the classic retail surroundings. We had our own half Ironman distance triathlon race. Four athletes from the SBR Multisports team went to the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. Five people sat on their bikes for 44 hours to win the Elite bike they were sitting on. Two people with a positive drive to change their lives resolved to train for Ironman Florida 2006 under the guidance and sponsorship of SBR, and will be losing over 100 lbs each in the process.

However, the best measure of SBRês success is when athletes come back after a race and share their experiences with us. It is rewarding to meet people new to the sport, watch their progress and later see them achieve their goals. My love for the sport and dedication to fellow athletes motivates me to provide the community with the highest quality of service, broadest selection of items and a space where athletes can interact with each other.

Whether youêre new to the sport or a seasoned triathlete, we are here to help you fulfill your dreams. So go ahead, dream big. This is your therapy.
