Growing up with Heroes
In a world with hundreds of television channels and cameras everywhere, the imperfection of athletes is more obvious than ever before. I often wonder whether my heroes growing up took the same drugs that athletes today take. The HGH, EPO, TGH and testosterone-filled needles are a puncture in the bubble of boyish dreams. If you are eight, ten or fourteen, caught in that once-wonderful phase of growing up called the Age of Worship, then you have my sympathy. Every time the press reveals another counterfeit hero, kids pull the posters of cheats off their walls and learn to become cynical way before their time.

| 2007 SBR TOUR DE FRANCE TT CONTEST & ROAD BIKE SPECIAL |

It's that time of year again! The Tour de France will keep us on the edge of our saddles from July 7th to the 29th. As a celebration, SBR is offering an upgrade promotion and the 2007 SBR Tour de France TT Contest.
Buy any carbon Scott, Kestrel, Orbea, Cervelo, Argon 18 or BMC road bike and receive a $300 gift certificate towards accessories or component upgrades.
But no road race would be complete without a time trial. By purchasing a carbon road bike from SBR between July 7th and July 27th, you will be eligible to win a time trial/triathlon frame of choice, up to $3000. At the time of purchase, you will be asked to guess the winning time of the individual time trial event from Cognac - Angouleme. The closest guess to the actual winning time will win the 2007 SBR Tour de France TT Contest and the frame. In case of a tie, a tiebraker will determine the winner. By not providing a guess at the time of purchase, your forfeit your opportunity to enter the contest, so do your homework prior to your purchase! SBR Multisports will be at the 2007 New York City Triathlon from start to finish.
The NYC Triathlon is partnering with SBR Multisports to provide you with a full range of triathlon services and gear. Visit us at the expo when you are at the race briefing and pick up your race package. You can find last minute race needs or pick up gear you cant find in your home town. We also have mechanics on site to help you with last minute bike adjustments.
Conveniently located, the SBR store is only four blocks from the Hilton New York, the location of the race expo and briefings, and half a mile from race start. Come visit our store and find even more gear, services and confidence.

Congratulations Cosmo - Winner of the 2007 NYC Tri slot
Cosmo Scrivanich entered one of the SBR Triathlon Series races and won a slot to the sold out 2007 NYC Tri in a drawing held at SBR Multisports.
"I've been competing in endurance events since I was in high school (a long time ago!). Over the years, my two proudest accomplishments are finishing the NYC Marathon in '92 and running a 4:52 mile when I was 35. I competed in my first triathlon in 1988, in Wyckoff, NJ . I really struggled in the swim and tried to quit. Unfortunately I could not get the attention of any of the lifeguards and had to continue. I decided to complete the swim using a variety of 'techniques.' Needless to say I was not the first one of the water. I went on to finish that day and have been competing in triathlons ever since."

Meet the SBR Multisports Triathlon Club
Since its start in March 2007, SBR Tri Club has grown into a fun group of 94 members and steadily continues to grow.
Club workouts are held six times a week, customized to various abilities, and include swim, bike, run and brick workouts and clinics. A big thanks to our Ambassadors for the passion, expertise and fun that you have brought to our club. To meet the SBR Ambassadors click here.

Thanks again to all who participated and made our June races so much fun.
Registration for our August races is still open, but spots are filling up fast. Take advantage now of reduced registration fees before the full price entry fees take effect. Early registration for the August 18 race ends on July 30, and for the August 26th race ends on August 7.
The SBR Triathlon Series races are held in beautiful Harriman State Park. The course for each race is professionally marked and supervised. Swim waves are categorized by age and gender, and are limited to 100 swimmers per wave. Your race will be scored by the ChampionChip system. After the race, a prize drawing and an award ceremony will be held. All participants will receive a free SBR Tri Series t-shirt.
Come out and join us this summer at Harriman - the series is ideal for everyone from beginners to seasoned triathletes.

Your Pace or Mine: Wednesday Night Runs in Central Park
Arrive at 7pm to warm up and stretch. The run starts promptly at
7:30pm.
Meet SBR Club members and other NY athletes. Get training and race tips
and have fun after work in New York's scenic Central Park. Leave your
belongings at the store for safe keeping. Often we mix things up during the runs
with fartleks, hill repeats or specific interval workouts. |
