APRIL 28, 2006 -- KETCHUM, ID (BRAIN)-Kyung Yu (33) and Howard Levine (45) showed no sign of giving in after more than 72 hours of standing and grasping their Triathlon jewel, a Scott USA Plasma.
SBR Multisports, a New York retailer targeting multisport athletes, hosted its second annual Hands on a Scott frame contest last weekend. The challenge was to place a hand on the brand new Scott Plasma and keep it there longer than any of your rivals. Once the weekend was over, there were two men standing Yu and Levine. Neither showed any sign of giving in after more than 72 hours of standing and grasping their triathlon jewel.
"No one wants this bike more than I do," Yu said. "I have had the Scott frame on my wish list since I first saw it, you're going to have to saw my hand off that bike frame before I let anyone else go home with it."
In the end Levine endured, leaving Yu knackered on the showroom floor. But there is a twist.
"When I was updated on the contest end, I couldn't believe how pumped these guys were to have a Plasma," remarked Scott Montgomery, vice president of Scott USA bicycle division. "It's only right that we award Kyung his dream machine."
Just like that, Kyung was told-still recovering in the SBR Multisports showroom-that he too would receive a coveted Plasma bike.
