Is there one word that describes the joy you receive from your sport?
A few actually, competition (the drive one receives from individual timed sports), and exhilaration (I
like going fast), and commitment (how much you need to stay with it to succeed).
How did you become interested in your sport?
My parents were both pioneers of the sport. I've been to a lot of their races, and also, my mom did
one while pregnant with me. Seeing so much of it got me interested, and plus I think it's in my blood.
What other hobbies do you enjoy?
Triathlon is actually ski racing's off season, and vice versa. In the
winter (my favorite season) I ski race on the Hunter Mountain Ski Team.
What's your favorite meal to eat before and after a big race?
Before the race, I like to eat any breakfast that will no longer be inside of me when the race starts.
After the race: FREE BAGELS!
Do you have a favorite song, favorite music group, or is there music you like to train to, or is there a certain song that plays in your head when you race or ride?
I like to train to fast music with no words. Or, with words that have to do with roads or highways, or
going fast. Mostly rock 'n roll.
Do you have a personal motto?
Work hard, play harder. This means never let the work you do outwork your play. Life is no fun when you outwork your play.
The most memorable and meaningful race you've been in and why?
Most definitely the Saratoga Lake Triathlon, 2005. It was my first ever
Olympic distance race, and it brought me new expectations of my capabilities. And plus, I shattered my goal of 3 hours
with a 2:52! And I beat my dad by over 20 minutes.
